A new student village at the University of Staffordshire is being delivered to provide modern, energy-efficient accommodation and a net-zero in-operation student hub. The project required a model that could support long-term delivery, operational performance, and ambitious sustainability targets.
Willmott Dixon is working as part of a consortium to structure and deliver the scheme through a DBFO model, bringing together design, delivery, funding and long-term operation within a single approach. This creates a clear, deliverable route to a high-quality, future-ready asset.
The development will provide accommodation for 700 students alongside a new student hub designed around flexible study, collaboration, and wellbeing. Sustainability is central to the scheme, with Passivhaus principles, photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps.
The completed student village will enhance the student experience, improve energy performance across the estate and create new green spaces that support both students and the wider community.
Providing an excellent student experience is a strategic priority and the Student Village is designed to respond to what students say they want. With the full backing of our Board of Governors, we are delighted to move closer towards making a start on this project.
